About swët

WHO WE ARE

Why Swët?

Our team at swët Fitness is solely here for you! We aim to provide a place for community, lifelong changes in fitness and nutrition, a positive environment where all are welcome, and where our coaches will push every member to exceed their expectations and learn what they can really achieve.

The most challenging part of a workout is showing up.

Through state-of-the-art treadmills, water rowers, weight stations, TRX, turf, and many other types of specialized equipment our dedicated team of coaches will challenge you to dig deep, encourage you to keep going, and celebrate with you when victory is achieved. Our High Intensity Interval Training method challenges your whole body, mental and physical, by moving between high heart rate periods followed by periods of rest. This variation in heart rate will lead to stronger cardiovascular health, increased endurance, and faster recovery times.

Missy

Trainer

Missy was a tomboy growing up in a small farming town in California when she fell in love with sports. She was often the only girl on the team before all women athletics was even a consideration for some sports. In 1988, she moved away to attend UC Santa Barbara and study Behavioral Psychology while still swimming and coaching a masters team.

After graduation Missy had planned to go to medical school, however, one fateful night she went on a ride along with the local police department. That shift was mostly uneventful until the Northridge earthquake of 1994 hit causing chaos. She knew law enforcement would be where she would use her degree to try to carve out a career. For the next 28 years, Missy was a police officer, motorcycle officer, patrol sergeant, and police lieutenant before retiring in 2020. In retirement she found herself sedentary, obese, and mentally disheartened. She decided to change that by going back to her childhood obsession with swimming and fitness. Missy went to school to study nutrition and eventually lost 70 pounds with a more healthy diet and rededication to weight lifting.

After relocating to Reno, Missy wanted to help other midlife ladies who might also be feeling less than their best. Everyone wants to feel empowered, encouraged, and purposeful in their own life. Missy rekindled her NASM/AAFA certification to help others overcome the barriers that keep them from feeling and looking like the inner beauty they are.

Missy is married to a retired firefighter Battalion Chief of 38 years. They share five adult children and four grandchildren. When she isn’t coaching at Swët Fitness, Missy enjoys hiking, her two French Bulldogs, and motorcycle touring across the United States. This next year she plans to continue advancing in her fitness certifications and nutrition counseling as well as getting better at her newest hobby, fly fishing.

Marcella

Trainer

Marcella loves people! As a busy wife, mom of two, and REALTOR, escaping in the early mornings to coach at swët is a total joy.

Marcella attended Oregon State University and studied Exercise and Sports Science; after college she focused her passion for fitness into personal and small group training while living in Canada. Moving often and starting her family, Marcella took five years away from the workforce to focus on her family, until she moved to Reno (for good) and discovered her years long goal of becoming a REALTOR.

Starting a business in a new town with two small children took up most of her time, but when her dear friend was looking for new coaches at swët Fitness, Marcella saw the best opportunity to make time, again, for helping people with their fitness goals. Since then, she has loved getting to know the amazing members at swët and refocus on a passion that had truly been missing from her life.
